2020 Teton County 4-H Fair Schedule

General Information: 

Per agreement and approved plan with Teton County Board of Health  

  • Events are limited to exhibitors and immediate family members, no general public. 
  • Immediate families encouraged to limit attendance to only those essential for safety of 4-H member and animal. Families encouraged to find alternate care for non-participant family members. 
  • No common or picnic gathering areas will be provided. No food or beverages will be provided. 
  • 4-H members and families must dispose of their own items and garbage and clear their areas when they depart.   
  • Staff masking will be implemented at high contact points or when 6 ft distance cannot be reasonably maintained. 
  • Masks will be encouraged for judges and required for judges in any situation that does not allow physical distancing. Judges will not shake hands with participants. 
  • If a person is asked twice to adhere to any of the implemented guidelines, they will be asked to leave and not return for the remainder of the fair—this includes 4-H members. 

 

Saturday, June 20, 2020 

9:00 a.m.  Horse Show at 406 Arena 

Members must be assessed first, contact horse project leaders to schedule. 

 

Pre-Fair CHANGES!!! 

Set-up:  Unless asked specifically, 4-H members, parent, volunteers should not come to set-up. Species superintendents will pick a crew for both set-up and shipping.   

Set-up Crew:  Josh deVos, Karen and Clayton Forseth, Brent Roeder, Todd Banner and older boys, Ashle Morris and older girls 

Wednesday, June 24, 2020 

Interview judging will be scheduled by individual appointment. Members will receive an email/letter with times.   

 

Wait near your vehicle or in the park to be escorted into building.  Member should carry their own items in with minimal help.  

Efforts will be made to schedule family members at the same time.  A limited number of 4-H members will be in the Pavilion at the same time.  Will have only a limited number of judges and will try to keep fewer than 15 total people in the building at a time.  Members will wait in or near their vehicles until summoned into their interviews.  One judge will judge all items for each member.  Members will enter through the north and exit through the south.  Photos will be taken of member and exhibits.  No exhibits will remain in the building.  4-H member will take with them as they leave from south door.

Thursday, June 25, 2020 

Goat and Lamb Show 

8:00 a.m.  Market Goat and Lamb Weighing 

Park trailers to the north.  Come to scale one at a time.  Observe social distancing guidelines, stay 6 ft. apart.

8:30 a.m.   Market Goat and Breeding Goat -- Outdoor arena/north of hog barn 

9:00 a.m.     Market Lamb Show -- Outdoor arena/north of hog barn 

9:30 a.m.    Beef Breeding Show – East side of Weatherbeater 

11:00 p.m.      Rabbit Show 

                           Cat Show 

                             Poultry Show 

                        Dog Show 

We have just one entry in each of these species.  Plan to have three tables, one per animal, spaced 6 ft apart.  Judge will move through animals in order.  Dog show will be last and may be in the city park so dog can be on grass – to be determined.   

 

Friday, June 26, 2020 

7:00 a.m.       Beef Weighing for Sell-Only Beef 

MUST have ownership papers for brand inspector at the scale, or you will be dismissed and go to back of the queue  

Pull through from south and back trailer up to chute to weigh.  Market beef will be returned to trailer and be free to leave.   

Observe social distancing guidelines, stay 6 ft. apart. 

 

7:40 a.m.Weighing for Showing Beef 

Families with last names B-I will weigh first from 7:40-9:00 a.m. 

Families with last names K-Y will weigh second from 9:00-10:00 a.m. 

Please have family name card (provided) in dash of window throughout fair to help us.

Animals must be able to be led from trailer to arena for show. Any animal that causes concern for safety of others will be sent home.  

No wash racks will be used.  Bring your own cleaning supplies, food/water for animal.  They will be left at trailers unless there is inclement weather.

Saturday, June 27, 2020 

7:00 a.m.        Swine weighing ALL swine, show and non-showing will weigh at this time. The non-showing animals will bepenned, and 4-H member can leave, once they have given care instructions for their animal. 

Please have family name card (provided) in dash of window throughout fair to help us. 

Line up trailers on south roundaboutatWeatherbeaterand pull through and unload at scale as directed, weighing will be done in order of trailers lined up (per usual).   

Only the member and one adult helper, if needed, will get out of vehicle.  Once hog is weighed, it will be directed to assigned pen. 

All hogs will fit in the hog barn with pens open between.  Waterers will be connected.  No bedding will be provided.  Please bring your own bedding.  Remember to support local businesses when you purchase. 

Care attendant for Saturday evening will be Ashle Morris.  Please leave care instructions and/or feed and pans with her. Have items you want returned clearly marked with first and last name. Text instructions (if not printed) to 699-3210 and include your name.

Buyers who can participate in the sale through online platform are encouraged to do so. 

 

4-H members and families should not be inside building taking seats unless planning to buy.  Please buy online from home, if you can.

Sunday, June 28, 2020 

Shipping CrewBrent Roeder, Josh deVos, Ashle Morris, Karen and Clayton Forseth, Danelle Crary and Joe Campbell.  

Cleaning CrewBrent Roeder, Fred and Rachel Christensen, Cathy and Joe Campbell, Lauren and Jere Long. 

6:30 a.m.      Swine will be loaded. NO MEMBERS should return for shipping. 

7:00 a.m.    Market lambs and goats return for shipping.   

Shipping process will be the same as weighing for market lamb, goats and beef.  

The member can be presentbut is not required to be.  Multiple family groups may haul animals together, if they choose,sending just the driver.  

7:30 a.m.    Market steers willreturn for shipping.
