2021 Teton County 4-H Fair Schedule

General Information: 

Please understand that all efforts will be made to make fair as normal as possible this year.  We understand the desire to have everything back to the way it was pre-COVID, but we are not there yet.  We still need precautions to ensure our members, volunteers, staff and community are protected from COVID.  These precautions come from consulting guidelines from the CDC, MSU and the Teton County Health Department.

It is up to each member/family to decide what is best for them in choosing whether to attend fair.  Remember, attending fair in not required for a successful project.  As alwasys, the main priority of fair is providing an educational opportunity for our members.

Announcements: 

  • Please be kind, patient, and respectful to all who attend and work at our fair. 
  • We will not have concessions, or areas to congregate to eat, during fair this year. 
  • We will not have the Meat and Greet this year. 
  • 4-H Families should limit attendance of non-participant family members.  Particularly, please limit attendance of youger children who cannot be given full attention and supervision.  Unattended children are a large safety risk.
  • Masks will be a personal choice for attendees and staff. 
  • Picnic tables and common areas will not be provided. 
  • Remember to pick up your own garbage and cluean your area before leaving. 
  • Livestock bedding will be the responsibility of the members.

Club assigned to decorate Pavilion (Old Agency) will be scheduled at the end and have the choice to decorate on Wednesday after interview judging or Thursday morning.

Friday, June 25

Market Beef and Breeding Shows

  • 7 a.m. Beef Weighing
    • Must have ownership papers for brand inspector at the scale, observe social distancing.
    • Details for weighing scheduling will be sent with back tags.
    • No blowers until weighing completed.
    • Members may fit from their trailers and/or tie animals inside of Weatherbeater.
  • 10:30 a.m.  Market Beef Show & Showmanship
  • After market classes  Beef Breeding Show
  • At the completion of the Beef Show
    • Beef to be taken home until the sale on Saturday, June 26

Market Lamb and Goat Show

  • 1 p.m.  Market Goat & Lamb Weighing
    • Observe social distancing, park trailers to the north, come to scale one at a time.
  • 1:30 p.m. Market Lamb & Goat Show & Showmanship
    • Market Goat & Breeding Show & Showmanship
    • Market Lamb & Breeding Show & Showmanship
  • At the completion of the Lamb & Goat Show
    • Lambs & Goats to be taken home until the sale of Saturday.

Set Up Sale Arena

After Round Robin and before Livestock Sale.

Members return with market lambs, goats and beef.

 

Livestock Sale Registration at the Weatherbeater

  • 6:30 p.m.
  • Buyers can participate in the sale online.
  • Out of courtesy for your buyers, members are encouraged to leave ample room for buyers to view sale ring.
  • Sale will be simulcast, which means the 4-H member will lead animal into ring and it will be broadcast live.  Buyers can purchase online or in person.

4-H Livestock Sale at the Weatherbeater

  • 7 p.m.

Sunday, June 27

Shipping Day

Shipping Crew:  To be selected by 4-H Livestock Committee.
Cleaning Crew:  To be selected by 4-H Livestock Committee.

6:30 a.m.  Swine Loaded

  • NO MEMBERS should return for loading unless specifically asked by MSU Extension staff.

7:00 a.m. Lambs & goats return for shipping.

7:30 a.m.  Market beef return for shipping.

Post-shipping

Clean up of Weatherbeater and grounds.

Tuesday, June 29

Carcass Judging of market swine, lambs and goats

  • Time TBA
  • Bear Paw Meats, Chinook
  • Attendance of members/families is not allowed.

Wednesday, June 30

Carcass judging of market beef

  • Time TBA
  • Vandevanter Meats, Columbia Falls
  • Attendance of members/families is not allowed.
