Have you ever thought of applying to be a Teton County 4-H Ambassador?4-H members need to be 14 by October 1 to apply. 4-H Ambassadors serve an important function in our county.The teens who become ambassadors work with the MSU Extension staff to promote 4-H in our county.The position is a combination of public relations and leadership service.We have had great ambassador teams in the past and we do now.Our current Ambassadors are Taylor Asselstine, Bellamy Beadle, Kwin Briscoe, Madeline Konen and Jersey Somerfeld. They would certainly welcome more members to the Ambassador team.Most of the current team is in their final year in high school, so we truly need you to apply if you are interested.

The 4-H Ambassador team and individuals set their own goals and develop a plan.We will work with you and your schedules.Some of the activities the Ambassadors have done include masters of ceremonies for communication day and textile show, fair duties and announcing, assisting with fair judging and more.It can be as much as you make it.

The deadline to apply for 2021-22 is Tuesday, November 30.We will accept applications any time between now and November 30.If you are interested, please contact the Extension Office or text Jane at 406-590-2492 and we will send you the application materials.

Re-enrollment for 4-H will begin October 1on ZSuite.Club leader(s) will have Clover Selection project guides for members to get more information on projects. The deadline for re-enrollment is December 1.

When 4-H youth re-enroll before December 1:

  • Project books will be ordered for you by the office.
    • The first project book order will be placed in late October.
    • A second project book order will be placed in December.
  • Project books will be paid by 4-H Council.
  • You can sign up for and participate in committees.
  • You will receive information from the MSU Extension Office in Teton County.

 

IF you re-enroll after December 1 you:

  • must complete a variance request form stating why you were unable to re-enroll by December 1
  • are responsible for ordering and paying for your own project books
  • are ineligible to serve on 4-H committees
  • must pay a $25 per member late fee
  • will not receive any correspondence from MSU Extension Teton County until you are re-enrolled

Dues must be paid before members are considered active in 4-H and receive the benefits listed above.

We Need Volunteers

We are in great need of volunteers if our 4-H program is to continue to be viable.We need volunteers to serve as project leaders so if you or someone you know has a skill, hobby or profession that they could use to help 4-H members in a project area such as woodworking, leathercraft, dog training, etc.PLEASE contact the Extension Office.

Club Hubbub

Eager Eagles

The Eager Eagles kicked off the year by having a meeting on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Kaare and Heidi Pearson’s home. Jorja Morris lead the pledges. Secretary Alexis Morris took roll call. The minutes from the June 2021 meeting were attached to the agenda.A motion was made by Ayden DeBruycker to accept the minutes as written and Kameron Lidstrom seconded the motion.The motion passed unanimously.We passed around a thank you card for the Extension Office to thank them for their hard work and all they do for 4-H.Madeline Konen made a motion to provide gift cards to the extension office staff in the amount of $20 each to Copper Creek Coffee in Choteau. Waverly Konen seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously. We congratulated everyone from our club that were carcass contest and 4-H Congress winners.Nolan Forseth gave the treasurer's report. We have $1138.68 in our checking account.Heidi Konen noted there will be a cooking meeting on September 24 at their house for anyone that wants to join! There is a Shooting Sports meeting on October 5 at 7 pm at Rocky Mountain Rifle Club.Please go with a parent. Also, there is a livestock meeting on October 5 in Choteau at the Courthouse Annex. There was a4-H camp report.Even though camp had to be moved this year, everyone loved it! Our club is looking for a new Cloverbud leader, so if you are interested, please talk to the leaders. Kande Yeager suggested an idea of having some sort of a stationary memorial donated by our club somewhere in Fairfield.We also chose to set a day for the highway clean-up in October. It will be either October 3 or October 17.Kelly DeBruycker will let everyone know the date when it is set. Our other service project will be shoveling sidewalks in Fairfield on a day of snow. We decided for our fundraising this year we will continue to collect Show Rite Feed tags and we will also have a bake sale! The Make it with Wool Contest entry forms are due October 15. Please remember to re-enroll for 4-H projects from October 1 through December 1.The club leaders decided that member and volunteer dues for Eager Eagles and snacks will be paid this year from our club account. Reminder: 4-H member discounts are available at North 40, MVC, West feeds, and The Western Feed Corral. Mrs. DeBruycker has green cards for proof of 4-H membership. Officer elections were also held.

Eager Eagles

The Eager Eagles had their second meeting on Monday, October 11, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. at the New Life Church in Fairfield. Korbin Pearson led the pledges. Secretary Taylee Pearson took roll call. The minutes from the September meeting were attached to the agenda. A motion was made by Waverly Konen to accept the minutes as written. Jorja Morris seconded the motion. The motion proceeded to a vote. The vote passed unanimously. We congratulated everyone in our club that won with their project books. Ayden DeBruycker gave the treasurer’s report. We have $1,063.42 in our checking account and $213.13 in our savings account. Heidi Konen gave the cooking report on the latest meeting on September 24. The next cooking meeting will be November 12 at the Konen’s home. Nolan DeBruycker gave the shooting sports report. There was no report on sewing. Ayden DeBruycker gave the horse report. The livestock report was given by Ashley Morris. Nolan DeBruycker talked about the highway clean-up that happened on Sunday, October 3. We got the money from the Show Rite feed tags a total of $274. 50. Kelly DeBruycker talked about how to enroll on ZSuites. She also reviewed project books and record books. Kelly DeBruycker talked about how to get membership green cards for discounts at retailers for livestock feed. The club will pay for all Eager Eagles members and volunteer dues this year. The meeting adjourned at 7:11 p.m. The motion was made by Katy Morris and seconded by Jorja Morris.

4-H members riding on parade floatFood Drive Decisions

This year the Food Pantries in Choteau and Fairfield had the opportunity for a $5K matching grant.The Extension Office was contacted by a Food Pantry representative asking if 4-H members would be interested in helping raise funds for the matching grant as food products were in good supply.This information was given to the club leaders to present to their membership to decide whether to do the traditional food drive or to do fund-raising activities to support the grant.

Challenging Champs:is going door-to-door in Power for "Trunk or Treat" to collect donations for their Food Bank.

Eager Eagles:is working with the Fairfield food pantry and determining their needs.

Old Agency: is making a donation to the Choteau Food Bank.

Prairie Stars: will follow Eager Eagles lead and work with the Fairfield Food Pantry

Spring Creek: no report received

Scholarships

The Montana 4-H Foundation administers a variety of scholarships with ONE application.The MSU ExtensionTeton County office administers the Boe Brothers and Anne Wiprud scholarships.The applications for these two scholarships will be sent to each Teton County FFA and 4-H member who is a senior this winter and the completed applications are due in March.

Money for You

It is the policy of the Teton County 4-H Council that 4-H members in good standing will have 1/2 of their conference registration fees paid.If there is a conference, training, seminar, etc that you would like to attend, please remember that you are basically getting 50% off the registration fee!
